This is the Intellectual Montage i did for my video skills unit.

Metric montage

Today we were set the task to make an example video of a metric editing style that had to last a second long.

Research of editing.

There are 3 different types of editing used in video. Each one will give the video a bit more depth and feel to it, whether it is fast paced action or a an informative video.

One of these type of editing is Metric. This means that each clip of video is showed roughly for the same amount of time making it consent throughout the video. For example this music video is using the Metric style of editing by making each scene around the same amount of time.

The second type of editing is Rythmic. This is mainly used for action films buy making the secens shorter than the last, giving it a fast feel to it and is usually before the climax of the movie happens. For example this movie trailer is using the Rythmic Style of editing near the end to hype you up about the movie.

The third type of editing is intellectual. This is used mostly for informative part of films or documentary’s by using a piece of clip of someone explaining something then while he is explaining it, putting a scene that’s relevant to what eh is saying so it is like he is voicing it over.  For example, this piece of clip is using the intellectual style of editing.
